Shish taouk is a Lebanese grilled chicken dish that is so delicious. The chicken needs to be succulent, juicy and tender and therefore it needs to be grilled carefully. We don’t want to dry out the chicken.
1/2 kg chicken breasts
2 tbsp sumac powder (special middle eastern, ingredient)
1/2 cup yogurt
1 lemon juice
4 cloves of garlic crushed
1/4 cup olive oil
2 tbsp tomato puree
1 tsp cayenne powder
1 tsp black pepper powder
salt to taste
- Cut the chicken breasts to even sized cubes
- Prepare a marinade with all the ingredients listed above.
- Add the chicken pieces to the marinade and refrigerate for 2-3 hrs
- Grill at 180 degree Celsius for about 15-20 minutes. Keep checking in between to see if the chicken is cooked and tender. We don’t want the chicken to get over cooked and dry.
